Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya is located about 375Km from Kisii Town. Accessing Nairobi from Kisii is an easy affair given the large number of public transport vehicles and shuttles serving the busy route i.e. if you plan on using public transport. Most vehicles are easily accessed at the Kisii bus park with most companies having booking offices at the bus stage buildings. You can use buses, common ones being Nyamira Express, Otange Coach, Daima Connections, Easy Coach and Transline. Fare prices will vary across the companies normally ranging anything between Ksh 600 to Ksh 1000/=.Apart from the buses there are many smaller 9 or 14-seater shuttles plying the route like Nyamira Shuttle, Nyanza shuttle, Premium Travelers. The main advantage of these shuttles is their express mode of travel i.e. they don’t make stopovers in other bus stops along the way to pick passengers like most buses, though their fares are slightly higher.The fares also tend to go up in high seasons like holidays and school opening/closing seasons. Like many other Kenyan Towns, Nairobi city can be accessed using multiple roads: Route 1: Kisii-Kaplong-Bomet-Narok- Nairobi This is the most common route used by public transport vehicles main reason being it is shorter than other routes making it an economical route. The road is accessible via Kisii through the following towns and shopping centres along its way: Kegati, Keumbu, Keroka, Metamaywa, Sotik, Kaplong in that order. A key point in this route is the Kaplong junction located a few Kilometers from Sotik Town. At the junction you will access the Bomet – Narok highway. You can proceed further to Bomet, Narok and other smaller shopping centres. The road is fairly straight forward with no major diversions or junctions. The road further links ups with the Nakuru-Nairobi highway at Mai Mahiu. Route 2: Kisii-Kericho-Nakuru Road This option follows the same route as the above route but does not divert at the Kaplong junction, you proceed to Kericho, then to Total Junction (At this Junction you can also proceed to Eldoret), Salgaa , Nakuru, Gilgil, Naivasha, Limuru Route 3: Kisii-Nyamira-Kericho-Nakuru-Nairobi This option uses the Kisii – Nyamira road but branches off at the Konate Junction. The road proceeds further to the Ngoina road which joins the Kericho-Sotik highway. From here you can proceed to Kericho and follow the route as option 2.Some shopping centres you will pass on this road before the Kericho-Sotik highway include Getare , Omogonchoro, Tombe ,Ikonge, Kebirigo, Roret not in order.

To avoid the hustles and bustles of public transport you can hire a vehicle to or From Kisii. Another option might be to board a local flight to Kisumu airport from Jomo Kenyatta International airport in Nairobi then you can hire a car from Kisumu airport to Kisii or other places in Western or Nyanza province.
