Kisii is also home to numerous Schools, Performance in the schools vary but some notable schools from the region are Kisii High School, Cardinal Otunga, Nyamagwa Boys, Nyabururu Girls, Kereri Girls. Most high or secondary schools in the region are boarding schools .Primary Schools are usually day schools though a considerable number offer boarding facilities along their day programmes. Most schools use the 8-4-4 system of education unlike other parts of the country which have started to adopt western education systems e.g. GCE system. Some notable primary schools include Imperial Primary, Gudka Academy, Set Green Hill, and Grace Academy.
